First, let me thank you for your patronage since coming to www.heidelberghaus.com. If you are ever in Indianapolis, we hope you will come to visit us at the Heidelberg House Café. We hope to create a little bit of atmosphere reminding you of Old Germany. Most of our décor in the store is from Germany and we still collect and buy old German items.

A Café in Europe is mostly a place to sit down, relax, read your newspaper, have a little chat, or "Kaffeeklatsch", meet your friends, or just socialize with other customers and talk about the good old times over a cup of steaming coffee and some fine German cake or pastries. A German cafe doesn't intend to be a restaurant and therefore we have only a very limited menu. No place to sit?? You may also want to try the good old European custom of sharing a table with a total stranger for lunch. Just ask if the empty seat is taken. It is really nice to socialize with other people, just try it!

Our bakers use only the finest ingredients available and we try to serve you nothing but the very best, including beautiful wedding cakes!

Since the opening of our "Café" and Bakery in 1968 we have not only added to the building several times, but also enlarged our imported gift and gourmet food item selection from Germany. By now, we try to import almost anything that the average person would like to have from the old country. We hope to bring you the best in gifts and food from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and other European countries, to Indiana. Also remember, that we have more than 2400 German videotapes for sale or rent here at the German Language Video Center. (www.germanvideo.com)

Indianapolis has a large German community with several German clubs, dances, sports, restaurants, German radio programs and even an authentic German butcher shop. If we here at the Heidelberg Café can be of any help, please let us know.

We sincerely hope that you and your friends will always have an enjoyable visit with us in our little German "General Store".

Your Hosts

Gabi and Juergen Jungbauer, owners for nearly 40 years and dedicated staff.
